Serious crash in Phatthalung injures two teenagers critically
A serious accident occurred in Phatthalung involving a Mercedes-Benz colliding with a motorcycle, resulting in two teenagers sustaining severe injuries. The crash took place on the southbound side of the Asia Highway in Nakhayard, Khuan Khanun district, Phatthalung province.
Police Lieutenant Sutam Pliawdee from the Nakha Yard Police Station received a report of the incident. Emergency services, including rescue teams from Phatthalung, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found two teenagers, 19 year old A and 19 year old B, lying injured in the middle median of the road. Both were in a critical state, barely conscious and with faces covered in blood. They were given immediate first aid before being urgently transported to the hospital.
The motorcycle, a Honda Wave 110i with registration number 2 กณ 6988 from Songkhla province, was found severely damaged in the median. Approximately 100 metres away, the white Mercedes-Benz involved in the collision was located, with significant damage to its right front side, rendering it undrivable.
Nattapol, the 43 year old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, recounted that he was driving his family from Samut Sakhon back to their home in Songkhla to celebrate the Chak Phra Festival. This festival is a traditional merit-making event in the southern region of Thailand, marking the end of Buddhist Lent.
Nattapol explained that as he was driving along the highway, a car suddenly cut in front of him from the left lane. He swerved to avoid it and collided with the teenagers’ motorcycle. This abrupt manoeuvre led to the serious injuries of the two young riders, reported KhaoSod.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to establish the precise cause of the accident. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the collision.
In related news, a passenger van collided with an 18-wheel truck, causing significant damage and injuring multiple passengers. Officials are urgently assisting, suspecting the driver fell asleep. Police are investigating to uncover the truth.
