Neighbourly dispute in Nakhon Si Thammarat leads to fatality
A neighbourly dispute in Nakhon Si Thammarat resulted in a fatality yesterday when a man allegedly under the influence of drugs was killed. The incident, which occurred in a rubber plantation, saw one neighbour fatally attack another before surrendering to the police.
Police and emergency responders arrived at a rubber plantation in Ban Tha Kham, Village No. 6, Khuan Nong Hong Subdistrict, Cha-uat District, at 6pm following reports of a murder. They discovered the body of 35 year old Kiattisak Ruangpawang with multiple stab wounds. The attacker, later identified as 33 year old Tanongsak Chaisuwan, stood nearby, waiting to turn himself in to the police.
Initial investigations revealed that Kiattisak had previously exhibited erratic behaviour, allegedly under the influence of drugs. Earlier in the day, he had used a slingshot to shoot at Tanongsak’s parents, prompting a call to the local police. When officers from Cha-uat Police Station arrived, Kiattisak fled into the rubber plantation.
The situation escalated further around 4pm when Kiattisak returned and again used a slingshot to target Tanongsak’s parents. Enraged, Tanongsak grabbed a machete and pursued Kiattisak through the plantation. The confrontation ended with Kiattisak being fatally struck multiple times by the machete, reported KhaoSod.
The police arrested Tanongsak on the spot and transported him to the local police station for further questioning. The investigation will continue to determine the exact circumstances and whether additional charges may be filed.
