Meth-ed up: Thai drug dealer gobbles stash, ends up in hospital

A Thai drug dealer in Samut Prakan thought he’d outsmart the cops by wolfing down nearly 100 meth pills but instead of escaping jail, he landed himself in hospital fighting for his life.
The 40 year old suspect in Samut Prakan sparked a wild police chase before shoving a stash of meth pills down his throat in a desperate bid to destroy the evidence, only to end up convulsing in the street and rushed to hospital.
The drama unfolded last night, April 17, when two Bang Phli patrol officers, Police Sergeant Major Paphawin Tamuang and Police Sergeant Major Siriwit Detthawichote, spotted a black sedan behaving suspiciously along Suvarnabhumi Road 3.
As the patrol neared the vehicle, the nervous driver hit the accelerator and took off, tearing down Theparat Road with the cops in hot pursuit. The chase ended near Soi Manthana, where traffic finally boxed the car in.
With nowhere to run, the man flung open the door and made a dash for it. He didn’t get far before being tackled and pinned by the officers.
Just as they were moving in to cuff him, the suspect pulled a shocking move. Clutching a plastic bag filled with dozens of methamphetamine pills, he rammed the whole lot into his mouth and began chewing frantically in a bid to destroy the evidence.

Despite police shouting for him to spit them out, the man refused. Moments later, he collapsed, soaked in sweat and trembling from the massive drug ingestion. Fearing for his life, officers quickly called in medics.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and rushed him to Bang Sao Thong Hospital. A later inspection revealed the man had managed to ingest nearly 100 pills, with the remains of the plastic bag still visible lodged in his throat, Channel 3 News reported.
The suspect was identified as Metha, a reportedly familiar face to local police with four previous drug-related charges already under his belt, said Pol. Sgt. Maj. Paphawin
“We spotted the car parked strangely and moved in to check. As soon as we approached, he sped off.
“After the chase, he tried to swallow the pills before we could seize them. He went into shock almost immediately, we had to call for urgent medical help.”
Police have since confirmed Metha is in stable condition and remains in custody pending further legal action. The bag of meth pills was seized as evidence.
