CIB arrests Thai man who allegedly stole foreigner’s car in Phuket

Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested a Thai man who allegedly stole a foreigner’s car in Phuket. The suspect allegedly stole an SUV from an unidentified foreigner at a housing estate in Koh Kaew in Phuket’s main city district, The Phuket Express reported.

The CIB reported announced this week that its officers arrested a Thai male suspect, whose name and age were not disclosed, at a gas station in Patiew, Chomphon, located in the upper southern region of Thailand. The suspect hails from Udon Thani in Northeast Thailand.

The suspect had evidently intended to sell the stolen SUV in a neighbouring country, according to the CIB.

Police further discovered that the arrested suspect had purportedly been involved in numerous prior cases involving theft and illegal drugs.

The foreigner whose car was stolen was reportedly overjoyed to have their vehicle returned to them.

Further details regarding the arrest and the ongoing investigation have yet to be disclosed by the authorities.

Earlier this year, a woman stole the car of an app-based driver in Chon Buri.

Police returned a sedan that was stolen by a woman with mental health issues to its 75 year old owner from an app-based ride service.

The driver, Mongkhonrat Yana, sought help from netizens saying his black Toyota Camry sedan was stolen by a female passenger.

The passenger attacked him and kicked him out of the car before driving away from the scene. Although the car owner forgave the thief due to her condition, police officers stated that they would proceed with prosecution until they received official medical confirmation of the illness.
