Eat your vegetables! Or don’t, with this new sauce
Science has come up with a solution for all the vegetable haters out there – “Sauce Son Phak” (vegetables hidden in sauce). This new product, developed by Innobic (Asia), the life science branch of oil and gas titan PTT, in collaboration with researchers at Mahidol University, is for all the people who would rather eat dirt than vegetables.
According to the researchers at the Institute of Nutrition, the sauce can replace eating vegetables with a similar nutritional value cleverly hidden in the sauce made of various kinds of vegetables. Innobic and Mahidol University recently sealed the deal to bring the revolutionary sauce to the masses, and it’s expected to be available in stores by the third quarter of this year.
If you hate eating your veggies, you aren’t alone. Studies show that fewer than 30% of young adults in Thailand are taking in as many vegetables as they should each day. The World Health Organisation recommends 400 grammes a day, far more than the average person consumes.
“Sauce Son Phak” will be another channel to increase the intake of nutrition from vegetables without even noticing it. The product could be a game changer for people who are health conscious but also hate vegetables.
PTT’s senior executive vice-president and chairman of Innobic said the collaboration will add value to the university’s R&D and is part of the company’s expansion strategy. While oil and gas are PTT’s meat and potatoes, this vegetable sauce could be their, well… vegetables. The company is seeking new business opportunities in the food and medicine sectors.
The sauce is not only beneficial for people who dislike vegetables but also for vegetable growers as it will bring an extra revenue stream to them. Plus, overcooked meat has been linked to cancer. The vegetables in this new sauce contain anti-cancer substances, which makes it a great balance as a topping on grilled meat.
This new product is expected to be a revolutionary new path to a healthier diet for people who have trouble consuming vegetables. Now, you can have your vegetables and eat them too, without even knowing it!
