Start your engines, the Phuket Invitational Car Rally is ready for road

PHUKET: Automotive tune ups underway, participants in the Phuket Invitational Car Rally are revving up for Sunday’s tour of the island which at the checkered flag will determine a top team of navigators, timekeepers and drivers.
On Sunday March 11, this unique treasure hunt will start out from Chalong Pier Beer Garden at 10am. However, registration will begin at 9am with a teams’ briefing at 9:30am.
The 145-kilometer route will take entrants to some of the more remote areas of Phuket along tarmac roads.
Treasure hunters will have to stay strictly on route as photographic evidence of places or buildings passed will be demanded by rally officials. A camera, or mobile phone with a camera, is therefore a must for all teams.
Only 50 vehicles are allowed to enter and at the time of posting a few places were still available.
A team is one vehicle with driver and navigator plus any guests and/or family. The cost is 2,000 baht per car, and includes food at the lunch stop and finish, and t-shirts for the driver and the navigator. Entry for guests (over 12 years old) are 250 baht each and children (12 and under) are free of charge and food is included.
The Phuket Gazette is a sponsor of the Phuket Invitational Car Rally.
