A woman guest at a hotel in San Jose, California suffered an unnerving experience while chilling in her room. To her surprise, the woman, Debra, witnessed an unusual device sliding under her room door.

The quick-thinking traveller managed to leap off her bed and grab the instrument before it reached the door handle. She then sought help from the hotel staff.

According to NBC Bay Area, Debra was on a business trip and staying at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Jose Airport in California. She captured the eerie experience on video. Someone was trying to unlock her door from the outside using a peculiar tool. The event took place around 9.30pm when she noticed something unusual at the door.

Debra identified the device as a long, thin metal that resembled a modified clothes hanger. She discovered it inserted under her door in an attempt to unlock it from the outside. Shocked by the sight, she immediately reached out and stopped the tool with her hand while calling for assistance at the counter.

Debra said…

“It looked like a clothes hanger coming under the door, but it had several attached. Then I saw them trying to move it and reach for the door handle, and that’s when I tried to stop it with my hand.”

Upon the staff’s arrival, they witnessed a man and woman engaged in a heated argument outside her door. They claimed that they were trying to reach a friend inside the room but might have knocked on the wrong door. However, Debra confirmed she had never met the couple before. She then showed the staff a video she recorded of them previously knocking on her door.

Debra believed that the couple chose her room because it was at the end of the corridor. In her video, Debra urged people not to panic if they found themselves in a similar situation but to remain calm and seek help.

“There’s no need to panic… I mean, I stopped them with just a few fingers, right? So, don’t panic, be calm and ask for help.”

Although the suspects left the area before the officers arrived, the incident was reported to nearby hotels and the local authorities.
