Sattha Thongkham, accompanied by his wife and daughter, arrived in Phuket yesterday, ready to assume his new role as the Vice Governor of Phuket. The family made their debut in the city by paying tribute to the statue of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) at the historic former Phuket Provincial Hall, situated on Narisorn Road in Phuket town. The venerable structure now houses the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO).

Following this, the Thongkham family journeyed to the new Phuket Provincial Hall, nestled on Tha Kraeng Road, on the southern edge of Phuket Town. Here, they paid their respects to the monument of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, a Buddha image, and a spirit house that stand at the entrance of the government complex.

By 9am, Sattha was sitting across from Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, officially reporting for his duty as the new vice governor. After a warm reception from various welcoming committees, Sattha was immediately immersed in his work responsibilities. His first task was to participate in a conference headed by Kriangsak Faisingam, the 1st Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Governing Committee, reported Phuket News.

Kriangsak was there in person to provide updates on provincial policies on significant issues. Key among these was the new 4am closing time for entertainment venues, set to come into effect on December 15. As part of their agenda, Kriangsak and his committee members are slated to visit Bangla Road in Patong on November 9.
