PIMEX boat show primed and ready to launch this morning | Thaiger

PHUKET: The heat is on and all are getting ready for this week’s Phuket International Boat Show, which opens today at 11am at the Royal Phuket Marina (map here).

All of the major Thai and regional boat dealers and brokers are busy juggling yachts into position for what promises to be an excellent in-water display.

Two entries exceed the official length for Superyachts – 100 feet – and there are a number in the 75-100ft range. Sure to draw crowds of envious boat-seekers is the Azimut 105ft ‘Escapade’, which will be the biggest boat on show.

More modest yachts, power and sail, make up the list and there is something for all to enjoy.

The array of stalls in “the Hall” has been finalized and the exhibitors will be keen to demonstrate all kinds of gizmos and gadgets.

Charter agents and equipment and services suppliers feature heavily in the indoor space. Among them are an Italian delegation of companies with the Italian Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Visitors from local or regional businesses will also be able to take advantage of a full lineup of media partners, while property, lifestyle and marine publications will be on hand to discuss promotional opportunities.

Homeowners looking for original and unique wall hangings can consult artist Richard Skene, who will display his modern art with a Thai theme.

Parents are encouraged to bring their little ones along for Children’s Day on Saturday, especially as the Phuket Gazette, which is the event’s local media partner, in conjunction with Phuket Airpark is offering all registered visitors the chance to win a scenic flight over Phuket.

One flight will be drawn every day.

There will be fine dining – including cuisine at three new outlets: Madame Saigon, Pasta Basta and Speakeasy – and music on the boardwalk. What better way to spend a day. Bring the family.

Entry is free.
