One dead two injured in Thalang road accident

One motorbike driver has died whilst two others have been injured in motorbikes accidents in Thalang last night.

The first accident accident occurred at 7.10pm in front of a restaurant on Srisoonthorn Road in Thalang.

Police and rescue workers arrived to find a motorbike and two injured – the male driver, 27 year old Piyakan Uppala from Sakon Nakhon, and and a passenger, 33 year old Worayut Nuanpuriwan from Kalasin. Both sustained injuries that required them to be taken to Thalang Hospital.

Nearby police found another motorbike with the driver on the ground. She was 44 year old Nattarika Riyatane from Chiang Rai who died at the scene. Her body was taken to Thalang Hospital as police continue their investigations.

Police claim that Piyakan was driving at high speed and clipped the back of Ms Nattarika’s motorbike while Ms Nattarika was making a right turn in the middle of the road. Ms Nattarika was heading from Cherng Talay to Baan Tarua.

Ms Nattarika was not wearing a helmet.

Alcohol blood tests were conducted for Piyakan which showed a .14% reading, well over the legal alcohol limit.
