The Ofo Thai Company has issued an announcement to the Phuket City Development (PKCD) company that they’ve cancelled the Ofo bike project on the island.

The announcement says that “the Ofo bike head office in China has canceled the Ofo bicycle project in Thailand. The cancellation is effective from August 28, 2018.”

“The Ofo Thai Company will stop this bike service in every area in Thailand. The bikes will be collected from August 31, 2018.”

“Ofo Thai Company would like to thank you the Phuket City Development (PKCD) for helping promote the project and their co-operation with other activities.”

“”We are very sorry and apologise for an inconvenience.”

The Off Bike project started with great fanfare just over a year ago and was quickly proving to be unmanageable with people stealing their bikes or dumping them in canals or in bushland.

The bike-sharing company has grown quickly over recent years but has had patchy success in Asia where either poor publicity or bad local management hasn’t been able to communicate the way bike-sharing is meant to work.

It all started so well… HERE

But all started going downhill soon after… HERE
