Unhappy workers blamed for boss’s murder
RAWAI: Police believe that the murder of a man at the wheel of his pick-up early yesterday morning was probably carried out by his disgruntled employees. Kongsin Wongpran, 40, a builder, was found slumped over the wheel with the driver’s door open on Wiset Rd, some half a kilometer from Chalong Circle, about 12:15 am on Friday. Two men on a motorcycle who were earlier seen trying to get the pick-up to stop are now being sought over the single-shot slaying. Pol Maj Sanae Panmee, Investigation Inspector of Chalong Police Station, said the Nissan pick-up was parked beside the road in front of a sala. K. Kongsin’s face was on the steering wheel. A single bullet wound stained the right side of his chest, apparently fired at close range. There was no evidence of a struggle. Maj Sanae said, “We were told that before he got shot he was driving back home from Karon. “Then two men on a motorcycle rode alongside and asked him to stop. The victim opened the door and talked with the men for a while, then one man shot him. Then they escaped.” Police believe the dead man knew his killers. From questioning people who knew him, police have established that he often cheated on employees’ wages. If an employee complained, they would be fired and replaced with a new worker. The murder investigation is continuing.
