Type A Negative blood urgently needed | Thaiger

PHUKET TOWN: Bangkok Phuket Hospital has issued an urgent appeal for Type A Negative blood for an Austrian tourist who is bleeding internally. Alfred Edlinsel, 41, was rushed to the hospital yesterday with a ‘terrible’ stomach pain that subsequently deteriorated into gastric and intestinal bleeding. Mr Edlinsel’s medical record shows that he has had a stomach condition for years. The hospital currently has no A Negative blood because it is rare in Asians, a spokesperson said. Type A Negative, she added, is much more common among Caucasians. Anyone with A Negative blood can donate it at the hospital’s blood bank between 7 am and noon, telephone 254421-9.
