Survey Reveals Room At The Inn

PHUKET TOWN: Last-minute vacationers hoping to reserve a room along Phuket’s sun-drenched beaches for a year-end holiday are coming up empty. But while seaside accommodation from Nai Yang to Nai Harn is booked solid from Christmas through the first weekend of the New Year, there is room at the inn in Phuket Town. A random telephone survey conducted today by the Gazette found six hotels in the city with rooms still available for selected dates during the peak period. Reservation clerks at the Thavorn, Silver, City, S.T., Daeng Plaza and Pearl hotels confirmed that holiday bookings were still being accepted. The central city may not boast idyllic sandy stretches and turquoise waters, but for procrastinating holiday-makers determined to have a roof over their heads, it’s the only game in town.
