Skal Golf event raises 125,000 baht for charity

CHERNG TALAY: The Skal Club held a highly successful golf tournament on Wednesday at the Banyan Tree Golf Club, raising 125,000 baht for charity. Forty-six golfers took part. A total of 65,000 baht was raised on the golf course, plus 4,000 baht from the dinner at the Whispering Cock pub following the tournament, 42,000 baht in an auction, and 18,000 baht from sponsorship of tee-boxes. A further 12,000 baht came in the form of private donations. After costs, the net amount raised for charity was 125,000 baht. Peter Wood won the nearest-the-pin prize on hole 3, while Andrew Kemp had the longest drive on hole 6. The winner of the front 9 (serious golf) was Rock Damman, while Mark von Ogtrop triumphed in the back 9 (fun golf). Dominick Magiameli won the 18 holes overall.
