PHUKET: Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC) is now an officially recognized Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Shore Based Training Center and will be running theory courses at the club in Chalong.
Courses are open to members and non-members and apply equally to sail boats and powerboats. Being shore-based, the courses are invaluable to people who have their own powerboat, but have never received any formal navigation or safety training.
There are currently three courses being offered:
Essential Navigation and Seamanship July 2 – 3 (2 days) and August 6 – 7 (2 days).
Day Skipper (Theory) July 10 – 14 (5 days).
Coastal Skipper /Yachtmaster Offshore (Theory) August 15 – 20 (6 days).

Next race day
The last race in the Victron Energy Series is on Sunday July 10. For many it is the last chance to prepare before Multihull and Phuket Raceweek regattas.
Closed for elections: Please note that, because of the upcoming elections and the alcohol sales ban, the club will close at 6pm on Saturday July 2 and will be closed all day Sunday July 3. Business as usual on Monday July 4.
