Road divider to feature lights and landscaping
PHUKET: A road divider to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion on Chao Fa East Road is expected to be finished in two months.
“We’re building it because of the number of accidents and traffic jams that occur on this stretch,” said Phuket Highways Office Director Samak Luedwonghad.
People making u-turns on the road pose a particular danger, Mr Samak noted.
The three-kilometer strip will have u-turns cut into it, he said, and will also have light poles every 40 meters to illuminate the dark area.
The six-month-long construction project is budgeted at three million baht and expected to be completed in another two months.
“The median is 1.6m wide. Once it’s done, we want to landscape it to help beautify the area,” Mr Samak said.
