Phuket immigration 90-day check-in now online

PHUKET: An online option for 90-day immigration check-ins is now available in all provinces throughout Thailand.

“We tested the system for two months [story here] before officially launching it on April 1,” Phuket Immigration Office Chief Sunchai Chokkajaykij told the Phuket Gazette.

“However, it is only compatible with the Internet Explorer browser.”

The same rules apply for checking in after the seven-day grace period following the permit-to-stay expiry date, Col Sunchai noted.

“Failure to report within seven days after the 90-day permit-to-stay expires will result in the usual fine of 2,000 baht, and the offending foreigner will be banned from using the online check-in system. From that point on, he or she will have to report to an immigration office,” he said.

“We have yet to receive any complaints about the new service. We hope that this will help reduce the number of people who have to come into the office for such procedures,” Col Sunchai added.

“Anyone who does wish to file a complaint can see me at my office.”
