Phuket drug dealer identified by hair loss, arrested

PHUKET: Police arrested a drug dealer in Rawai on Monday with more than 1,500 pills of ya bah (methamphetamine) and 57 grams of ya ice (crystal methamphetamine).

A tip-off from undercover police that a balding man about 170cm tall was selling drugs in Rawai led officers to a house on Wiset Road at about 7pm.

“The man who answered the door matched the description, so we asked to search the house,” said Lt Col Jarun Bangprasert of Phuket Provincial Police.

Officers found 59 ya bah pills and 2 grams of ya ice in the bedroom of Karim Kongsamut, 50, and 1,590 ya bah pills and an additional 55 grams of ya ice in a basket near his washing machine.

In addition to the drugs, police seized the mobile telephone found in Mr Karim’s pocket and digital scales.

Mr Karim was charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell and accepted the charges, Lt Col Jarun said.
