Phang Nga politician assassinated
PHANG NGA: Nithat Siribenjakul, the chairman of the Phang Nga Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor), was gunned down in a hail of bullets at the Takuapa bus terminus about 8 pm last night.
Police officers investigating the murder told the Gazette that K. Nithat was heading home after visiting a fellow OrBorJor member.
“K. Nithat drove his Jeep Cherokee into the parking lot at the Takuapa bus terminal. He was followed by a black Isuzu pickup with red dealership license plates, with about four men riding in the back,” explained a police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“The men in the pickup opened fire on K. Nithat with shotguns and 11mm handguns while he was still driving. He died at the scene.”
Pol Maj Suwan Nathong said that K. Nithat was known to have conflicts with “many” influential people and that one of these may have ordered the shooting.
Police are continuing their investigation.
