Patong Tower auction “a big success’

PATONG: A total of 55 units were sold in Sunday’s auction of apartments in the 32-story Patong Tower. Around 500 people turned up to bid in the auction, held at the Patong Resort Hotel.

On the block were 61 one-bedroom apartments, seven two-bedroom apartments, seven three-bedroom apartments and five four-bedroom penthouses.

The media were barred from the auction and the Tower’s owner, Divine Development and Property, declined to say how many of each type of unit were sold, or how much individual units sold for.

However, Benjaporn Panya-ngarm, Customer Service Supervisor for auctioneers Asset Auction Center Co Ltd, did say, “Seaview units sold for an average of 57,000 baht a square meter, while mountain view units went for an average of 39,000 baht a sqm.”

She continued, “This is the first auction we have organized in Phuket and it has been very successful.”

Planning permission for the Tower was given about 13 years ago, but after the developer defaulted on bank loans, the building was left unfinished and unoccupied, until the Divine company bought it earlier this year.

The remaining 25 unsold units will be offloaded through private sale rather than auction. For more information call Tel: 076-341369-72 or email: patongtower@hotmail.com
