New Zealander dies in smash

KARON: Terence Wayne Garnett, 41, from New Zealand, died when his motorbike collided with a six-wheel truck outside Karon Municipality offices on Patak Rd early on Thursday morning.

Mr Garnett, originally of Palmerston, arrived in Phuket on August 17 for a three-month stay.

He was wearing a crash helmet when his motorbike collided with the truck at about 1:30 am, but he sustained fatal head injuries in the smash and died at the scene.

Pol Maj Anek Mongkol of Chalong Police Station told the Gazette, “The accident happened because it was raining and Mr Garnett’s motorbike slid on the road.”
