Nai Harn prepares for ‘Phuket Countdown 2016’
PHUKET: Tourism Authority of Thailand officials are preparing for this year’s ‘Phuket Countdown 2016’ at Nai Harn Beach with five days of events leading up to the ‘final sunset’ at Promthep Cape.
Celebrations will include stage performances from local schools, celebrities and a band from the Royal Thai Navy.
“Phuket is known as the Pearl of the Andaman. We aim to promote our tourism potential with the New Year Countdown Celebration at Nai Harn,” said Phuket Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada.
The schedule of events at Nai Harn Beach is as follows:
December 27: Official Opening Ceremony featuring performances from Baan Sai-Yuan Kindergarten – 7pm.
December 28: Ms Prang-Chompoo Pageant; Official Rawai Carnival Opening; Stage performances by Rawai scouts; and Thai traditional dance show – 6pm.
December 29: ‘Mor lam‘ music and performances from Baan Sai-Yuan Kindergarten and Bang-Ka-na-tee Kindergarten – 6pm.
December 30: Traditional Thai-style style performances; and stage performances from Kindergarten’s throughout Phuket, 6pm.
December 31: Stage performance by Phuket Provincial School; Miss Nai Harn Pageant; and Countdown Celebration – 6pm.
Additionally, there will be a ‘Goodbye Last Sun of the Year’ celebration at Promthep Cape beginning at 4pm on December 31, with a photo exhibition and performances from the Navy, as well as Thai pop stars Rud-Glaw Amaradhit and Luk-Wa Pigiga.
