Man drowns near community college

PHUKET TOWN: A man was found dead in a pool in front of Phuket Community College at Saphan Hin early this morning. Pol Lt Rassada Kluengwong, of Phuket Town Police Station, said that the man was found at about 2:30 am by a group of teenagers. After removing the body from the water, police found 90 baht in the dead man’s pocket and a hospital card from Trang Hospital, which identified him as 31-year-old Rat Salachart. The police have ruled out foul play. Lt Rassada said that vendors in the area told him they had seen K. Rat walking near the pond at about midnight. He appeared to be drunk. Police believe that K. Rat passed out from drinking too much alcohol, fell into the pond and drowned. K. Rat’s body was sent to Wachira Hospital, and police are now trying to contact his relatives to collect the body.
