Mai Khao, Karon could suffer contested Hollywood Movie Museum

PHUKET: The much-protested against ‘Hollywood Movie Museum’ originally slated for Nai Harn could very well end up in Karon or Mai Khao, confirmed officials.

“K2L Advertising Co – the Bangkok-based company hired to build the museum – has the necessary contacts to get Hollywood memorabilia that is associated with filming in Phuket,” explained Santi Pawai, director of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Phuket Office.

“There will be five buildings housing photo exhibits. Additionally, there will be a small cafe and a facility for showering – as a general service for beachgoers.”

The plan to construct the controversial Nai Harn Movie Museum was dashed following local protests – once the community realized that a grove of much-loved beach-side trees would be cut down as part of the construction process of the 40-million-baht facility (story here).
