PHUKET TOWN: Issues & Answers, the column in which residents and visitors to Phuket can pose questions to government officials and business managers, is now available on line at https://thethaiger.com/issuesanswers/index.asp The questions, often quite challenging, are brought to the attention of the responsible government departments or businesses by Gazette reporters, and the answers provided are published along with the name and position of the respondent(s). The online version contains a searchable database of issues and answers published to date, and invites readers to comment on the answers. The comments are then published themselves, where appropriate, as letters to the editor in the Gazette’s “Pilot’s Log”. Issues & Answers first appeared in the hard copy Gazette four months ago in response to the suggestion of a reader who felt the column might help to improve accountability in business and government.
