IBAP elects first general committee

PHUKET TOWN: Members of the International Business Association of Phuket (IBAP) elected the organization’s first general committee at a meeting at the Royal Phuket City Hotel on Friday. They also adopted its constitution. The new committee is headed by Chairman Satit Viddhayakorn, managing director of Bangkok Phuket Hospital. Oraual Paethong, manager for South Thailand of Pacific Leisure (Thailand) Ltd was voted vice chairman. Development Management Group’s business manager Pamela Kelly Wetzell, who is also the managing director of the Greenhouse Cooperative preschool, was elected general secretary, with Anders Palm, general manager of South East Asia Divers, taking the position of membership secretary. Damrongsak Jongpairojcosit, general manager in Phuket of Network Advisory Team Ltd, was elected treasurer. K. Satit said that he would ensure that all the purposes of the association are met. “I want to see IBAP helping Phuket’s business community and business environment to become leaders [in Thailand], as well as improving business ethics here,” he told the Gazette. The guest speaker, Pana Janviroj, editor of The Nation newspaper, examined the outlook for Thailand and the Thaksin-led coalition in the wake of the first general election since the new Constitution of Thailand came into force.
