PHUKET: Viewing and prayers for well-known property developer and long-time Phuket resident Stephen Paine will begin tomorrow at Wat Thep Vanaram in Baan Manik, Thalang.

Mr Paine passed away at his villa in Phuket on Saturday (story here).

Services will be held daily from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, and will conclude on Friday.

Final funeral rites and the cremation will be held on Saturday, starting at 11am.

“No flowers please,” was the formal request received by the Phuket Gazette this morning.

“Donations can be made to the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation.”

For nearly two decades, Mr Paine was a respected and admired member of the Phuket community. His property development achievements included Surin Heights and the Malaiwana Estate.

“Stephen was a generous, compassionate and loyal friend to many on the island and will be greatly missed,” said friend Chantal Fernandes.

“He was a strong promoter of Phuket and leaves behind his wife Kathy and many close friends,” said Bill Barnett, managing director of C9Hotelworks and long-time columnist for the Gazette.

“I knew Stephen for longer than I can recall, and can simply say he will be missed.”
