Four to run in Patong by-election

PATONG: Four candidates are to run in a by-election on September 24 to fill a vacant seat in the Patong Municipality. The contenders are Weerasak Kaminthong of the Rak Patong Party – which currently holds the majority in the council – and three independents: Jamrak Eamsaad, Samran Ponkaew and Peerapan Suwannachart. As with the upcoming by-election in Phuket’s Provincial Administration Organization, the vacancy was created when a council member quit to run in national elections to be held before the end of this year. In this case, the vacant seat was formerly held by Charlermluck Kebsub, who resigned to run as a parliamentary candidate for the Democrat Party in District Two.
