Couple saved from insecticide suicide

CHALONG: A 65-year-old German resident and his 45-year-old Thai wife were rushed to Wachira Phuket Hospital on Friday evening after apparently attempting to kill themselves by spraying insecticide into their mouths. Pol Lt Pachai Muttayan of Chalong Police Station said that officers were called to an apartment block in Rawai. The caller reported that two people in the apartment seemed to be dying of some kind of poison. The police found the couple squirming on the floor. Based on evidence found in the room, it seemed they had tried to kill themselves by squirting mosquito spray into their mouths and swallowing it. The couple are listed in stable condition but have not recovered sufficiently to be able to make statements to the police.
