Boy burglars busted
PATONG: Police on Monday arrested three male teenagers for a spate of Christmas burglaries carried out on Nanai Rd.
The trio were nabbed on Monday after a 13-year-old member of the gang was caught red-handed by the owner of the house he and his accomplice were burgling.
Pol Lt Weerapong Rakito of the Kathu Police Station told the Gazette that Anuchit Kuadet, 32, came home from work to find the two boys robbing his home. He managed to grab one of the boys and called the police.
“We brought the boy [‘Ae’], 13, to the station for questioning. He gave up his accomplices and led police to their stash of stolen goods, which included three mobile phones, three digital cameras, a Sony PlayStation 2 game console, five MP3 players, seven DVD players, and various knives and screwdrivers,” Lt Weerapong said.
Based on the information Ae provided, police later arrested “Bank”, 13, and gang leader “Ake”, 16.
Lt Weerapong said the boys confessed to robbing at least 10 houses in Patong, most of them on Nanai Rd; and that they used the money from sale of the loot for partying.
He asked for victims of recent burglaries in the area to go to Kathu Police Station and reclaim stolen items.
“The thieves will be sent to the Phuket Juvenile Observation and Protection Center,” he added.
