Blood Type ‘O’ Negative still urgently needed for Phuket accident victim
PHUKET: Donations of blood type O Negative are still urgently needed for Phuket motorcycle accident victim Steve Swan, the proprietor of the Crows Nest bar in Patong.
Mr Swan is at Phuket’s Vachira Hospital and is suffering from internal bleeding due to severe leg, hip and pelvic injuries after being hit by a car on the Kata/Karon road near Chalong Circle on Wednesday night.
Mr Swan requires about 10 units in total of donated ‘O’ Negative blood to sustain him over the weekend and for a two-part operation scheduled for Monday. He currently requires two units of blood per day and needs three to four more units for the operation.
Blood donations can be made in Phuket at the Vachira Hospital Blood Bank on the hospital’s 4th floor or through the Red Cross in Bangkok. Three Phuket residents have donated blood so far but more donors are urgently needed.
Vachira Phuket Hospital Address: 353 Yaowarat Rd, Taladyai. Tel: 076-361 234. Fax: 076-211 155. Hotline: 1669. Email: info@vachiraphuket.go.th
Donors in Bangkok can go to any Red Cross or Hospital Blood Bank. There is one located at Chulalongkorn University.
To ensure that blood donated in Bangkok reaches Mr Swan in Phuket, donors can call Vachira Hospital Blood Bank director Khun Vichot, who will ensure the blood is transferred. Tel: 089-650 8998.
