PHUKET TOWN: The Rajabhat Phuket Institute has teamed up with Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia, to offer post graduate degrees. The institute currently has 25 students studying for Masters Degrees and PhDs through distance learning programs with the Australian university, according to Wannee Wannapruk, Vice President for General Affairs. A total of 16 of students are Rajabhat Phuket Institute lecturers, while the remainder are doctors, nurses and businessmen, Wannee said. Students need to pass a series of units before being admitted to post graduate courses. These include University English for Post Graduate Studies, Research Methodology and Practice, Current Issues, and Research Proposals. Entrance exams will be held in March, May and October. “There were many universities interested in this project but we selected Edith Cowan University because of its high quality of education and curriculum management,” Wannee said.
