AMCHAM: Discover how well Phuket hotels actually perform

PHUKET: American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Greater Phuket Chapter is breaking down how the island’s hotels are really performing in the current, challenging market conditions at the ‘By The Numbers’ event tomorrow night.

The event will be led by STR Global’s Area Director Asia Pacific Jesper Palmqvist at Outrigger Laguna Phuket. STR Global’s mission is to democratize data intelligence and provide one standardized worldwide platform, consistent methodology, transparency and quality service around the world. With more than 50,000 hotels participating in their hotel performance surveys, they are the world’s foremost source of historical hotel performance trends on a daily and monthly basis.

A presentation of STR’s substantial data will look at the past, present and future of hotel and resort performance on the island. The seminar will also delve into the great debate of chasing rates or occupancy as disruptive events continue to put pressure on Phuket’s hotels.

Joining Mr Palmqvist on stage to discuss strategies in dealing with a volatile marketplace will be Mark Simmons, vice president of Asia Pacific sales and marketing for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.

Registration begins at 4:30pm at the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Similan Ballroom. The seminar will run from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Admission is open to the public and is 100 baht for non-members.
