20 dead, 709 hurt in traffic accidents

PHUKET: Twenty people died in traffic accidents in Phuket between August 20 and September 20, according to statistics from the province’s three government hospitals. Of these, 17 were on motorcycles and three were in cars. Ampaipan Pawawattananusorn, the Professional Nurse at the Phuket Provincial Health Office, reported that 709 people were injured on the roads during the same period. Of these, 645 were on motorbikes and 45 were in cars. The remaining 19 were either pedestrians or riding bicycles. The toll to September 20 this year is 145 dead and 7,721 injured.
