Bar owners in the renowned party hub of Pattaya say they have been suffering from a lack of tap water for more than one week. One young bar owner on Soi 7, 26 year old Sasiprap Sirisawat, said her water sometimes works but has a very weak flow.

Sasiprap says she and other bar owners in the same area have had to buy water from a water truck to use in the bar for 2,000 to 3,000 baht per day. Sasiprap is now calling on waterworks authorities to check and solve the issue. She told The Pattaya News that the authorities have been unresponsive.

“I have tried to contact them but there is no answer. Please help us we are suffering.”

The Provincial Waterworks Authority told reporters that they were looking into the issue.

A lack of tap water has been a problem for some areas of Pattaya. In July, a crowd of over 50 people from Pattaya’s Moo 4 village protested after not having tap water for 30 years. The villagers said the government had made empty promises of change for them. One representative from the community said that the Nong Plalai sub-district had provided them with tap water before, but it wasn’t clean enough to use. The villagers had to pay 170 baht for a tank of water twice a week.
