Patong underground cabling works start next April
Phuket’s Governor has received an update on the Patong underground cabling works during the morning meeting today (December 13).
Representatives from PEA (Phuket Electrical Authority), Patong PEA Office Manager, Watcharin Prapa, and Director of Undergrounding Project of PEA, Wachira Pitaktansakul, reported the progress on the targeted area, Taweewong Road (Beach Road), where a budget of 224 million Baht has been allocated.
The budget will be divided between the PEA, responsible for the cost of the electric system for 160 million Baht, and the Patong Municipality, responsible for the cost of the public works and new cable underground pits for 64 million Baht.
The chosen location is 3 kilometres of Taweewong Road. The e-bidding is currently in progress to search for the contractor, who is expected to start the construction in April next year. The construction will take a year and a half to complete.
The underground cables works will also upgrade the increasing amount of electricity consumption in the area while the PEA will also develop a power supply system for an even greater stability.
