Two individuals suspected of motorcycle theft have been apprehended in separate investigations in Khon Kaen, police announced yesterday, September 30.

Victims reported their bikes had been left parked without the handlebars locked, simplifying the thefts. Security camera footage revealed a man dressed as a delivery driver frequenting areas where the motorcycles disappeared.

The suspect, identified as 40 year old Anusit Intiam, was tracked down and arrested in Nai Mueang, Mueang district. During his arrest, his motorbike was seized. Anusit confessed to working as a delivery rider and admitted to stealing motorcycles across the province for the past year.

He claimed to have stolen eight bikes in the last three months, selling each for 5,000 baht to his partner, 30 year old Chai. Chai then sold the motorcycles for approximately 20,000 baht each through online platforms.

Officers have recovered some of the stolen bikes, with four already returned to their owners. Chai, however, remains at large.

In a separate incident, police arrested 23 year old Praphan Sornsena at his apartment in Sila, Mueang district. Along with his motorbike, officers found three methamphetamine tablets in his possession.

Originally from the Kalasin province, Praphan admitted to having no job and stealing six motorcycles from car lots in Khon Kaen. He dismantled the bikes, selling the parts and scrap to fund his drug purchases, reported Bangkok Post.
