Thai woman wanted for tricking victim into delivering drugs to South Korea
Police are searching for a Thai woman who tricked an innocent man in the Isaan province of Udon Thani into delivering drugs to South Korea.
The victim, 20 year old Auan, was hired for 500 baht by a woman, named Eye, to deliver a parcel for her on two occasions. Auan became suspicious about the contents and suspected they might be illegal. He shared his concerns with a friend, who advised him to report Eye’s suspicious behaviour to the Border Patrol Police.
Auan decided not to deliver the parcel as Eye requested and filed a complaint with the police, also providing security camera footage of Eye coming to his home.
In the video, Eye is seen arriving at Auan’s house on her motorcycle and handing him the parcel. The parcel had the address and name of a South Korean national written in both English and Korean.
Auan brought the parcel to the police station. Upon inspection, officers found bottles of supplements inside. Real supplements and drug capsules were mixed in the bottles. Officers carefully examined each transparent capsule and found methamphetamine, also known as Yaba, hidden. Each capsule contained six pills.
Further investigation revealed that Eye’s boyfriend is a Laotian national. Police suspect her Laotian boyfriend of instructing her to smuggle drugs from his country to South Korea.
Police later raided Eye’s home but she was not there. Officers searched her accommodation and found numerous cardboard boxes but no drugs or illegal items were discovered.
The Border Patrol Police are coordinating with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board to track down Eye and apprehend the relevant suspects in both Thailand and South Korea.
In a similar case, a Thai woman was arrested in Bangkok in August for smuggling ketamine from Thailand to South Korea. She was caught in South Korea, punished, and transferred back to Thailand. As her actions also violated Thai law, she was rearrested and punished again according to Thai legislation.
