Thailand’s wellness powerhouse: A health revolution in Phuket

BDMS Wellness Clinic has teamed up with Sri Panwa Phuket and Bangkok Hospital Phuket to create an unparalleled fusion of relaxation and medical excellence, as part of the ambitious Phuket Wellness Hub project.

With wellness tourism projected to hit a staggering US$1.4 trillion (around 46 trillion baht) by 2027, and Thailand already ranking seventh globally with a market value of over US$17 billion in 2019, the country is poised to seize a major chunk of the growing industry, said Tanupol Virunhagarun, CEO of BDMS Wellness Clinic.

“With the increasing number of high-potential tourists visiting Phuket last year, BDMS Wellness Clinic saw the significant growth potential in the wellness tourism industry.”

The partnership promises an all-inclusive wellness experience, blending physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday, October 1 at Sri Panwa Phuket, a luxury resort where privacy meets world-class healthcare.

Songkran Issara, CEO of Charn Issara Development Plc, hailed the collaboration as “a dream destination for both Thai and international tourists,” promising visitors a holistic luxury retreat.

Bangkok Hospital Phuket, renowned for its decades-long commitment to health in the Andaman region, aims to enhance its world-class services with a preventive focus. Narin Bunjongjaroen, CEO of Bangkok Hospital Group 6, emphasised that the partnership will redefine healthcare in Phuket, transforming it into a sustainable wellness destination, reported Bangkok Post.

In related news, Phuket is set to make waves in the wellness tourism industry with the launch of the Phuket Health Expo in July. Provincial officials, led by Governor Sophon Suwannarat, announced the event during a press conference at the Phuket Provincial Hall on July 9.

The expo, held from July 24 to 28 at Central Festival Phuket, aimed to catapult the island into the spotlight as Asia’s top destination for health and wellness tourism.

In other news, Phuket Provincial Police have ramped up efforts to tackle the nuisance of roaring motorbikes and unruly teens as the island geared up for the famous Vegetarian Festival and the peak tourist season.
