A 68 year old Thai woman died while relaxing in a sauna room in a fitness centre at a shopping mall in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok. Her body was found yesterday evening, June 10.

A worker at the fitness centre made the grim discovery: the lifeless body of 68 year old Thunchanok, lying in the sauna room at about 6pm yesterday. Despite the worker’s valiant CPR attempt, it became evident that Thunchanok had already died before she was found.

According to Channel 8’s report, the intense heat of the sauna room had turned Thunchanok’s skin a deep red, with significant peeling observed on her arms, chest, face, and neck, exposing underlying flesh.

Further insights from other staff members at the fitness centre unveiled that Thunchanok was a regular patron. Typically arriving around 8am, she would engage in her exercise regimen alone, without the company of a friend or a trainer. Her departure, usually around 11am, often went unnoticed by the staff, who assumed she had already left the premises.

A medical professional estimated that the deceased was in the steam room for four to five hours. However, the cause of her death is still under investigation and pending an autopsy.

Officers from Pak Kret Police Station investigated the sauna room yesterday but did not reveal the result of the investigation to the public.

In a related report, a 38 year old Thai man, Chaiseth Kongpananpon, lost consciousness while running on a treadmill at Fitness First in a Bangkok shopping mall in July 2014. Security guards were summoned to the scene and provided CPR, but to no avail.

The rescue team or medical professionals were not called to the scene until an hour later after the victim lost consciousness. Chaiseth was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to MGR Online, several witnesses reported that the fitness staff members were not proactive in helping Chaiseth, and no trainers provided assistance or CPR to the deceased, even though they were supposed to know of it.

Chaiseth’s wife came forward to seek justice for her husband and questioned the safety measures of the fitness centre. However, the cause of Chaiseth’s death and further updates on the case were never made public.
