Coin-tastic: Teenager breaks the ‘piggy bank’ to bag a gaming smartphone

A young man carrying a bag filled with coins and banknotes weighing at least 5 kilogrammes, left smartphone shop owners and social media users in awe when he used the contents of his piggy bank to purchase a gaming smartphone.

The incident was shared by a TikTok user @lovemobile999, a mobile phone store in Samut Sakhon province, which revealed a clip of the young customer carrying a bag filled with money weighing not less than 5 kilogrammes to buy the gaming smartphone.

The store stated that the young man claimed to have saved up for five years and the weight was indeed not less than 5 kilogrammes. The store expressed gratitude for the support. Many netizens praised the young customer for his savings habit and the store for its good service.

A 26 year old employee, Tatiya Thongpatphu, at the Love Mobile shop located in Big C Samut Sakhon revealed that around noon, a teenager walked in asking for a smartphone priced around 6,000 baht.

Soon after, the customer said he would be back, which made her think he would not make a purchase. Not long after, the said customer returned with a large cloth bag. The young man asked if the glass would break if he placed the bag on it. She was confused, but upon opening the bag, she found a large amount of coins and various banknotes totalling more than 30,000 baht.

The customer claimed that he had just broken his piggy bank. Tatiya stated that the store had witnessed children saving money to make purchases before, but never to this extent. This time, it was not less than 30,000 baht, weighing more than 5 kilogrammes.

She asked if he wanted an iPhone, but he declined, wanting a gaming phone, this 6,000 baht one was enough. Tatiya praised the young customer and urged children and teenagers to take his example. If they want something, they should start saving in their piggy banks, and soon enough, they will have money to buy what they want, reported KhaoSod.
