Thai Prime Minister confident Liverpool will crush Manchester United 5-0
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin yesterday predicted he is confident his team Liverpool will beat Manchester United 5-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
PM Srettha, a big Liverpool supporter, took part in a talk-in called Thais Ask, PM Answers, at the InterContinental Bangkok Hotel yesterday, December 12. During the discussion, reporters asked the PM to give his opinion on the upcoming Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United on Sunday, December 17.
The 61 year old Thai Prime Minister expressed confidence that Liverpool would secure a 5-0 victory or, at the very least, a 4-0 triumph. He disclosed that several members of the Cabinet shared his enthusiasm for Liverpool and would agree with his prediction.
PM Srettha added that he is jealous he won’t be able to join his friends who will be watching the game at Anfield stadium.
Bangkokbiznews recently published an article in August this year about the Thai PM and his passion for sports, especially football. The media outlet stated that PM Srettha is obsessed with football, which led him to write a book called Srettha and Sports, which was released in 2018.
The Bangkok-born politician used to run the Saen Siri Academy, which gave children access to free football training. For over 17 years the academy gave children the opportunity to develop their skills with specialists and experienced coaches.
The Thai premier once revealed in an interview that he became a Liverpool fan in the late 70s because he liked Liverpool’s style of play, which was fun and aggressive, like their nickname, the Red Machine. He said he was not focused on winning but more on entertainment.
Liverpool and Man Utd fans clash
PM Srettha is not the only Liverpool fan in Thailand hoping for a 5-0 win. Another Thai Liverpool fan was so confident of his team’s performance that he suffered an injury while boasting about his perfect football team.
A 50 year old Thai man named Yong suffered a head injury after two Manchester United fans, 16 year old Jakkree and 25 year old Rangsan, hit him with a glass bottle.
Rangsan and Jakkree confessed to the violence, revealing to Amarin TV that they were angry when Yong boasted that Liverpool was better, richer and had better players than the Man Utd team they supported.
Yong reportedly received six stitches for the wound on his head. He revealed that he did not mean to take the issue so seriously and that he may have said something wrong because he was drunk. He forgave Rangsan and Jakkree and would not report the matter to the police because it was not a big deal to him.
