Thai man fatally stabs cheating wife after dining with her lover
A Thai man fatally stabbed his cheating wife in their sedan parked on Phuttamonthon Sai 2 Soi 27, in the Thawee Wattana district of Bangkok after the woman finished dining with her lover.
Officers from Thammasara Police Station were called to the scene at around 2pm, yesterday, October 8, to investigate a physical altercation between the couple, later identified as 42 year old Nattaphon and 36 year old Chonticha.
Upon arrival, officers found the golden-bronze sedan parked in the middle of the alley near a restaurant called Secretly Delicious. The car’s engine was still running, with the two front doors open and loud music playing from the vehicle.
In the driver’s seat, officers found Nattaphon unconscious with a wound to his head. A crossbow was found on his body, and a bloody knife was in his hand.
Chonticha was found in the passenger seat to Nattaphon’s left. She was wearing her company uniform from Thai Smile Bus and sustained more than 20 stab wounds across her body.
Rescuers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and a medical team from Police General Hospital provided first aid to both Nattaphon and Chonticha until they regained consciousness. They were then rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Chonticha succumbed to her injuries during the journey.
After his condition improved, Nattaphon confessed to the police, admitting that he stabbed his wife to death out of jealousy. He explained that he suspected her of having an affair and found her appointment with her lover at a restaurant in the area.
More than 20 stab wounds
Nattaphon hid himself in the trunk of Chonticha’s car until she arrived at the restaurant, which was located near her workplace. Chonticha reportedly worked as a public bus driver, offering services from the Sanamchai area to the Thailand Cultural Centre.
He remained hidden until his wife finished dining with her lover. As Chonticha was about to enter her car, Nattaphon revealed himself and took control of the vehicle. He drove to the back of the alley, hoping to flee the scene, but it was a dead end.
Nattaphon stated that he and Chonticha got into a heated argument, which eventually escalated into a fatal assault. Nattaphon did not mention the wound to his head but it is believed that Chonticha shot him with the crossbow in self-protection.
A witness, 35 year old Ratchanee, told Channel 3 that she heard the woman scream for help but no one dared to intervene. She saw the man repeatedly stabbing Chonticha while shouting, “A cheating wife must be killed.”
Ratchanee added that she and other locals were initially confused, thinking the brutal attack was part of a film shoot, as a film crew was working just 20 metres away.
Other locals reported seeing Chonticha regularly bring an attractive, fair-skinned man, who is believed to be her lover, to dine at the restaurant.
The police have not yet pressed charges against Nattaphon. Officers will conduct further questioning after his recovery before concluding the case.
