Python in central Thailand feasts on 10 chickens

It wasn’t very difficult for rescue workers to catch a greedy python yesterday in Ang Thong province, central Thailand, after it ate ten chickens and couldn’t move.

Staff from Ang Thong Provincial Rescue Association received a request yesterday to remove a large python which was asleep inside a chicken cage at a house in Pho Thong District.

Police Lt. Col. Sanae Suksabai, the owner of the house, said he raises bantam chickens in cages. He went outside yesterday morning to find a 4 metre long python with a protruding stomach passed out in his chicken coop. The man said the snake ate 8 chicks and 2 hens.

Usually, catching and removing a snake is quite a task, especially one 4 metres long! But this greedy python was so full it couldn’t slither away, even if it wanted to, making life easy for the removal team.

The rescue workers released the snake back into nature, far away from any homes, or chickens.
