A passenger aboard a Thai Airways flight suffered burns on December 8 when hot coffee was accidentally spilled on him. The man, who recounted the incident on social media, noted that the flight attendant had poured several hot drinks at once and was handing them out to passengers when the accident occurred.

As he was seated in the middle, a cup slipped from the attendant’s grasp, spilling hot coffee onto his body and arm. Despite the intense heat, he received assistance from fellow passengers who moved him to the lavatory to rinse the affected area. One passenger even apologised on behalf of the flight attendant.

Following the incident, the passenger sought medical attention onboard, but the flight attendant seemed unprepared to handle the situation. The attendant could only advise him to continue rinsing with water and pressed the faucet for him until they arrived at Chiang Mai Airport, reported Sanook.

Upon disembarking, the flight attendant informed the passenger that Thai Airways could not be held responsible for the incident due to the absence of CCTV footage. They suggested that the passenger seek compensation from the passenger next to him. The passenger ended his post expressing disappointment with the airline’s service standards, etiquette, speech, and basic first aid, stating, “Where is the responsibility for this incident? Once I get off the plane, it’s like you’ve finished your duty. I’m really disappointed.”

Today, Thai Airways responded to the incident, expressing deep regret and assuring that the company was not indifferent to the event. They were in the process of coordinating with the passenger to understand the details, closely monitoring his injuries and medical treatment.

Thai Airways was willing to cover the medical costs and offered compensation to the passenger for his consideration. Furthermore, the company was investigating the incident according to related procedures and would update the passenger on the progress periodically.

The airline pledged to improve its service by learning from the incident, expressing its apologies for the inconvenience caused. They were committed to preventing similar incidents from happening to other passengers in the future.
