Video of drunken transgender woman urinating by roadside sparks online backlash

A video that has garnered heavy criticism in the online world features a drunken woman, later revealed to be a transgender, caught urinating by the roadside near Lumpini Police Station. The friend who recorded the incident did so with amusement before posting it on Facebook. Toward the end of the clip, two police officers are seen escorting the two individuals away.

The incident took place early in the morning on April 2 when Lumpini Police received a report of a woman showing signs of being drunk in front of a hotel in the Ploenchit area.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the drunk transgender woman and took her to a nearby lodging to calm her down. It was then revealed that the individual was transgender and still under the influence of alcohol, Sanook reported. The person’s friend had arrived to take care of her and provide information to the authorities.

Initially, the police proceeded with the case based on the charges of being drunk and causing a public disturbance, having already settled the issue. However, the two individuals were later found causing the incident shown in the clip, where one urinated in public, prompting the police to remove them from the area. Following this, authorities pursued legal action according to the Criminal Code, Article 389, which concerns the offence of littering with human waste in public places.

The punishment for this offence is imprisonment of no more than one month, a fine not exceeding 10,000 baht, and additional penalties under the Cleanliness Act, with a fine not exceeding 2,000 baht.
