Body of Thai woman found abandoned in Samut Sakhon forest
A garbage collector yesterday stumbled upon the dead body of a Thai woman by a roadside forest in the central province of Samut Sakhon.
Officers from Khokkham Police Station yesterday, July 11, were called to the roadside forest along Ban Khanom-Ban Kwang Road to investigate the dead body. The spot was far from any residential area and was used as a dump site by locals. The suspect who left her body there must have known that few people travelled past the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the body wrapped in blankets and beginning to decompose. After searching the body, officers found her ID card and identified the woman as 66 year old Krittaya, also known as Jeh Mam.
An initial investigation revealed that Krittaya had a serious wound, about 5 centimetres long, on her forehead. Her body is undergoing an autopsy to find evidence that could lead to her killer.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from houses in the area and spotted a suspicious white Nissan March supermini car. In the footage, all four of the car’s windows were covered with black paper or cloth, as if the driver was hiding something inside.
The vehicle went directly to the scene where the body was discovered. It disappeared from camera view for about three minutes before leaving the area at high speed.
Abusive ex suspected
Channel 3 reporters visited a National Housing Authority apartment where Krittaya had previously lived and interviewed her neighbour, Sakaoduen, who suspected Song, Krittaya’s ex-boyfriend, as the murderer.
Sakaoduen explained that she once argued with Song after he accused her of being a thief. Song displayed abusive behaviour and even attempted to hurt her. She also shared a video with reporters showing Song standing outside her room with a weapon in hand.
According to Sakaoduen, Song also argued with other residents in the apartment, especially when drunk. She heard Song and the deceased arguing at night multiple times until Krittaya moved out of her room a month ago to escape from Song after breaking up with him.
Krittaya’s colleague, Khanom, told Channel 8 that Krittaya came to work at her company for the last time on June 30 and then disappeared. Khanom disclosed that she noticed a bruise on Krittaya’s eye but she denied any assault.
Krittaya’s close friend, Buapen, also believed Song was the murderer as Krittaya told her many times that he assaulted her. Buapen said Song had a son with his ex-wife but she was unsure whether his son was aware of Krittaya’s disappearance and death.
As of now, the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case and have not yet summoned the main suspect for questioning.
