The wife of social media influencer Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet rescued a nine year old Thai girl who was brutally abused by her aunt in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok. The girl had bite marks across her body and deformed ears.

A Thai woman from the Bang Bua Thong district of Nonthaburi province sought help for the nine year old girl by sharing her story with the administrator of Gun’s official Facebook page. The issue was passed on to Gun’s wife, Lalita “Miew” Hongsamat, who rushed to rescue the girl yesterday, September 24.

According to the woman, she encountered the girl at Bang Bua Thong Market on September 22. She noticed the wounds on her body and saw her asking for food from vendors. Concerned, she asked the vendors for more information about the girl.

Vendors told the woman that the girl often came to the market to seek food and that she was regularly abused by her aunt. The aunt frequently bit and beat her, and the repeated abuse caused her ears to become deformed. The girl tried to hide her deformed ears by covering them with her hair to avoid being noticed.

The girl shared with the vendors that her mother was in jail and that she believed her father had died. She begged for food not only for herself but also for her aunt and her aunt’s two children.

At times, she could not get enough food for herself because she had to prioritise feeding her aunt’s family until they had enough.

The girl added that she begged her aunt to stop abusing her but to no avail. Her uncle, who also lived with them, tried to protect her but was also assaulted for his efforts.

The girl is now under the care of the Nonthaburi Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office (M-Society). The girl’s aunt will be summoned to the Bang Bua Thong Police Station for questioning.
