Police are intensifying their investigation to track down a brutal gunman who shot a man in the head and left his body by a field in Chalerm Phra Kiat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Villagers reported that the deceased often went out to catch crabs and fish late at night.

Around 2.30pm yesterday, October 24, Police Lieutenant Colonel Peerapong Yodsurang, Deputy Superintendent acting on behalf of the Superintendent of Chalerm Phra Kiat Police Station, received a report of a body found on a road in the middle of a field in Moo 3, Don Trao subdistrict. He coordinated with medical professionals and rushed to the scene along with forensic investigators and rescue units from the Pracha Ruam Jai Foundation.

At the scene, police discovered the body of a man with a gunshot wound to his right temple. Nearby, they found a red Honda motorcycle without a license plate. The deceased was later identified as 32 year old Santichai, a resident of Moo 9, Suan Luang subdistrict, Chalerm Phra Kiat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Santichai did not have a stable job and enjoyed catching crabs and fish in the fields. Before his body was discovered, a local villager riding a motorcycle passed by and noticed the unattended motorcycle but did not pay much attention. It was only on the return trip that the villager saw Santichai’s body lying under a tree.

Police suspect that Santichai went out to catch crabs and fish late last night and was approached by at least two individuals. A conversation likely escalated into a conflict, leading to Santichai being shot in the head, reported KhaoSod.

The motive is believed to be a personal dispute. The body has been sent to the hospital, and police are urgently investigating to apprehend the perpetrator.
